We help you unleash your potential.

We accomplish this by concentrating on human interaction and iterative design. Professional mentoring, coaching, training, and facilitation combined with focused inquiry and a drive for continuous improvement increases critical thinking, self-insight, and action identification.

Cultural identity

At 8fold Productivity we take a deliberate, holistic, and iterative approach to exploring our cultural identity comprised of values, principles, and practices to find what works, given the context, in order to achieve our purpose.

We incorporate the values and principles espoused by the Manifesto for Agile Software Development; replacing the word “software” with “solutions” as we believe these values and principles are about achieving agility within an organization. With the Manifesto as our foundation, we continue to verify the validity of our values, principles, and practices.

Agency: We acknowledge you by enabling the realization of what is meaningful to you.

Community: We engage in relationships to increase connection and belonging while treating you with compassion.

Evolution: We make deliberate decisions regarding what to change and to what extent in order to continuously improve.

The Tao of Productivity: We strive to balance efficiency, effectiveness, and speed in a way that works for us.

Time is the only commodity that matters.

If we aren’t inspired by it, it’s difficult to inspire others.

Trying to please everyone inspires no one.

No task is above or below a practitioner.

Complex systems emerge from simple rules and goals.

Danger is real—fear is a choice.

Pulling is generally met with less friction than pushing.

Working at 100% utilization is not a noble goal.

Don’t be a weasel. Don’t talk negatively about anyone if they are not in the room with no intent of interaction with that person (or you have not already discussed the topic with them).

The following practices are used to embody and encourage our values and principles.

Continuously assess if something agrees with or contradicts our values, principles, and practices. If a practitioner believes there is dissonance between something at 8fold Productivity and our values, principles, and practices, that practitioner is encouraged to say or act in order to improve it.

Ask if the reason behind something is still valid. We believe the ‘why’ behind things is important. Further, in keeping with our core value of evolution, if the why behind anything appears invalid, the thing itself is invalid. Finally, if the why emerges again, it may be necessary to “dust off” what was put away.

All practitioners are members, but not all members are practitioners. Members believe in the mission of 8fold Productivity and show support through subscribing to the organization. Practitioners operate with no explicit hierarchy or management.

Practitioners choose their individual work. If a practitioner determines a task is beyond their level of knowledge, ability, or passion, they may ask another practitioner to teach them or to take the task on. However, no practitioner has the authority to assign a task to someone else.

Create intentional conflict norms.

Results only work environment. It is your life. You are a professional. You are the most qualified to determine what you are working on and when. Your fellow practitioners have no right, obligation, or authority to watch over you without your permission.

Transparency with confidentiality.

Practitioners own the products of their minds; 8fold Productivity owns trade marks, names, and marketing collateral. Most organizations have intellectual property policies that protect the organization should someone leave; however, the policies tend to neglect protecting the individual should the organization decide to let them go.

“Final” does not exist. Final implies a thing will never change and cannot be improved. It is what it is, and is it as it should be?

Visual identity

Values and principles represent the content of our character. Practices define actions we take in accordance with that character. From this internalized platform, the voice and visual elements describe how we communicate our purpose and identity as well as the “clothes we wear”.

As we value agency, each practitioner is free to communicate in their own unique voice and style. Therefore, the following applies to communications by 8fold Productivity itself.

Design philosophy: Great design is not running out of things to add, but running out of things to take away. Simplicity is not simple.

Editorial voice: Deliberate, confident, inspiring, bold yet not boastful, and caring.

Imagery: Enhances content while not competing for attention.

The 8fold Productivity logo represents complex concepts embodied in a simple form. The 8fold Productivity logo consists of a “jewel”, the figure eight itself; a logotype, the word “fold”; and the word “productivity” in the 8fold Productivity chosen font family. The jewel is a figure eight, shaped similar to an hourglass, made by creating eight creases (or folds), and also representing infinity. The jewel combined with the logotype finishes the word “eightfold”, speaking to quantifiable measure (an eightfold increase or decrease), while also alluding to the Buddhist noble eightfold path.
